Shaping the Pyrenees

Project Overview

Pyrenees Shire Council started working with the community earlier this year to establish some key strategic documents: our Community Vision and Council Plan.

The ten year Community Vision describes the aspirations for the Pyrenees Shire community for the next ten years. The vision will lay out what the Shire region will be like as a place to live, work and play for residents and visitors.

The Council Plan is a tool that is used to help Council and community achieve this vision. These documents will guide the ways in which Council plans and delivers services that affect every person who lives, visits, plays or works in the Pyrenees Shire Council. This includes how Council manages things like:

  • Services From community care to waste collection.
  • Infrastructure From roads to sporting facilities.
  • Amenity From parks to the look and feel of the Shire’s towns and places.

Our Health and Wellbeing Plan is currently being finalised too, and this will be placed here for feedback.

Council Plan feedback received - now closed

Pyrenees Shire Council thanks the community for their interest and feedback on the Council Plan.

Council endorses draft Council Plan and seeks community feedback

At its Council meeting on 17 August 2021, Council endorsed the draft Council Plan, pending some amendments to the Measures section. The suggested amendments will be incorporated and the Plan will be on public exhibition for a month. Community feedback will be sought during this time. Community feedback can be given online here, or by email or post.

Council receives 129 Shaping the Pyrenees postcard submissions

Council officers have received a great response to the Shaping the Pyrenees postcard survey, with responses coming from a wide range of ages, and localities right across the Shire. The postcard (which was posted to all addresses, placed at resource centres and could also be completed online) asked people about their hopes for future Pyrenees, what they love about their communities and what they would change.

Community Vision questionnaire

Pyrenees Shire Council sent out Shaping the Pyrenees postcards to each mail box in the Shire. These were also available online and at resource centres. We received 129 returned postcards and online submissions with a range of diverse responses that reflect the diverse aspirations of our community. We are hard at work coding these responses and will share the outcomes here in coming weeks.
