Have your say on Council's draft Budget 2023-24

Project Overview

Pyrenees Shire Council has released the draft 2023-24 Budget for public consultation, as well as the 10 year Financial Plan and the Revenue and Rating Plan.

This year the rate cap from the State Government’s Fair Go Rates system was set at 3.5%.

The Total Budget is $24.8M including a capital program of $7.8M

The Revenue and Rating Plan proposes a reduction in the farm rate from 70% to 67% of residential rate in response to changing property valuations.

Residents are invited to view the budget documents online, at service centres or residents can request a copy to be mailed to them.

Pyrenees Shire Council has prepared the Proposed Budget 2023/24, 10-year Financial Plan ending 2033, and revised Revenue and Rating Plan.

INFORMATION: At a Council Meeting of Council to be held at the Beaufort Shire Office, 5 Lawrence Street, Beaufort, commencing at 6.00 pm, on Tuesday 20th June 2023 the Pyrenees Shire Council will formally consider:

Adoption of the proposed Budget 2023/24;

Declaration of Rates and Charges for the period 1st July 2023 to 30th June 2024;

Adoption of the 10 year Financial Plan ending 2033;

Adoption of the revised Revenue and Rating Plan.

DOCUMENT INSPECTION: Copies of the Proposed Budget 2023/24 and other documents are available via the links on this page. Alternatively, Documents can be viewed at the Beaufort Shire Offices, Beaufort Information Centre, and Avoca Information Centre.  However, residents may request a copy of these documents directly from the shire office by calling 1300 797 363 or emailing pyrenees@pyrenees.vic.gov.au.

Documents will be available for public inspection from Monday 24th April 2023 for 28 days. 

SUBMISSIONS: Pursuant to Sections 94 and 96 of the Local Government Act 2020 and 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 (1989 Act) any person has a right to make a written submission on any proposal contained in the Proposed Budget 2023/24, 10 year Financial Plan, and the Revenue and Rating Plan.   

Submissions must be received by Council before 9.00am on Monday 22nd May 2023. Submissions should be addressed to Chief Executive Officer, Pyrenees Shire, 5 Lawrence Street, Beaufort VIC 3373 or via email to pyrenees@pyrenees.vic.gov.au.

Any person who wishes to be heard in support of a submission received by Council should indicate in the written submission that he or she wishes to be heard. Any person requesting that he or she be heard in support of a submission is entitled to appear before a meeting of the Council either personally or by a person acting on their behalf at a Council briefing scheduled for Tuesday 6 June 2023 in Avoca.
